Everything about our stay at the Sacher was terrific! The staff, the room, the amenities - everything. Highly recommended!!

My early request for connecting room was not met. They even only told us after they showed the room (after checking in). We then realised that we were given the wrong room for one of the two that we booked for; different to the type of beds that we booked for. It was later settled where we were moved and the other room was upgraded so that they both  can be side by side. However, The hotel's lobby and main area is very nice. Inside the room are so- so for a current 5-star hotel.

Wonderfully located opposite the old city, this hotel is one of the most charming I have visited in many years. The staff were attentive but discrete, polite and sincere. They even took my car and cleaned it of the salt grime without any request! Sacher Tort is 'to die for'!

Totally picked this hotel at random and completely lucked out. It's a beautiful 'old world' hotel. Complete with creaky wood floors. Perfect timing for our visit - the hotel was decorated with beautiful Christmas lights and a giant tree in the lobby. Fabulous location - just 5 minutes walk across a bridge to fabulous Old Town Salzburg. We were greeted  the moment we stepped out of the taxi. The concierge gave us a brief tour of the lobby and restaurants before bringing us up to our room. She even took the time to mark things down on our map for us. We were also welcomed with a goodie plate of their famous Sacher tortes (mini ones) and various chocolates. Yum! The only 'odd' occurence was when we wanted to purchase the "Salzburg Card" (to get us into the multiple museums and use transportation), the guy insisted that we pay cash, and that there was a service fee on top of it. Well, we didn't have that much cash on us yet, so he gave us the cards and told us we could pay later - but to look for him. As it was, we stayed out late, and when we came back, the guy was off shift. We asked the new person at the front desk about paying for the cards and were offered the options of paying by cash, credit card or charging it to the room. No service charge. What the hell was that all about? Looks like someone may have be trying to make a little extra off their guests. I'm sorry, but that's what it added up to for us. Other than that, Hotel Sacher is beautiful, charming, and couldn't be in a better location. The end to our perfect trip was a small snow storm. We danced around in the snow for a short time outside, and then retreated to our room to watch the world turn white from our window.

This is a beautiful hotel, top notch! The staff were so professional but not "stuffy" and really created the best atmosphere, they genuinely wanted you there and wanted you to enjoy your stay. The hotel is in an excellent location with a view of he river. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, with great grooming products. I would highly recommend  this hotel; it is a bit expensive, but worth it. Stayed here October 2011.

Hotel Sacher is a sparkling jewel of a hotel along the river, a short walk from the older area of the city, next to the lovely Mirabell gardens. Room was beautifully decorated, quiet, and of average size for a European hotel. An array of chocolate treats welcomed us, along with an attentive, friendly staff. Hotel is walking distance to everything you'd  like to see in Salzburg; dinner there was formal, fairly expensive, with a somewhat limited menu. This is a great place to stay and embodies the old world charm of the city.

Great location and staff, particularly the young bell woman who worked very hard to make our stay for several days comfortable. When using a Hotel.com award, we frequently find the placement of the hotel room to be less than satisfying. In this instance the elevator seemed to be located in our closet. Very noisy until the wee hours. Other than this  problem, hotel was truly a five star facility.

Hotel Sacher is a very elegant hotel with the exceptional service by doormen. The front desk could have done more but overall not too bad. The location is simply hard to beat. Every tourist spots is walking distance. The hotel itself is an attraction. The rooms remind me of the old rich but well maintained. Simply elegant and huge! The only thing is  the entrance drive. It was hard with traffic going and we didnt know if there was parking or a garage. Have you heard of Sacher Torte? Hmmm! The cafe close to the hotel are also very good and waiters & waitresses speak very good English.

We stayed at the Sacher for two nights while in Salzburg in March and found it to be an ideal hotel. The room was lovely and the chocolate tortes they left for us on arrival were delicious. The hotel was perfectly located - easy to walk to the train station or to get a bus to Bad Ischel which we needed to do the second day. The staff were wonderful  and very helpful and the dinner we had the first night in the hotel restaurant was excellent. We will definitely stay here again on a future trip!
